Teilnahmebeschränkung:
Dieses Seminar ist auf 30 TeilnehmerInnen beschränkt. (Didaktische Gründe: Englischsprachiges Seminar, in dem Studierende auch ihre aktiven sprachlichen Kompetenzen stärken sollen)Inhalt:
Children and adolescents make up a majority of the population worldwide. The United Nation Child Rights Convention attempts to provide protection, participation and provision of these young people. But even after 25 years and a bride global acceptance of the treaty body its still a big challenge that child rights are respected, realized and considered in socials services and programes as they should be all over the world.Students/participants will get familiarized with the child rights system and learn more about how child rights can be applied in practice using case studies from social work and development cooperation.
The course will among other things deal with the following themes:
• More than 25 years: History of the Child Rights Convention
• Core concepts of Childhoods
• Taking a closer look at some Child Rights
• Key concepts and principles of the Child Rights Convention
• Introduction to the Child Rights-based Approach
• How can benefits and challenges in working child-rights-based in the professional fields of Social Work and de Development Cooperation
Empfehlungen zu speziellen Kenntnissen und Bereitschaften:
English (spoken, read, understood).If you think your English is not good enough: we will give you as far as possible translations of the exercises if necessary. Don't be shy!
It is possible to have discussions and student presentations also in German. Papers can be delivered in English, German and Spanish.
Arbeitsformen:
This is a lecture and discussion class. Students are expected to participate actively in the discussion and group work.Prüfungsleistungen bzw. Testat:
Presentation about a specific child right issue and documentation (Handout of 4-8 pages).Basisliteratur:
